Student Principals
Abner Chen
Abner Chen is an investment professional with deep expertise in infrastructure and sustainability-focused investments. His career has been dedicated to identifying and executing transformative investments in sectors that shape the future—ranging from energy transition and transportation to digitalization and beyond. With an engineering background and currently pursuing an MBA at UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business, Abner combines technical knowledge with financial acumen to drive sustainable, high-impact investments. His focus is on fostering growth in critical sectors, ensuring long-term value and resilience.
Nidhi Upadhyaya
Nidhi is passionate about impact investing, with experience across South Asia and the U.S. At Sorenson Impact, Nidhi serves as an impact investing associate, refining skills in financial modeling, portfolio evaluation, due diligence, and investment memo writing. Through previous roles, including a philanthropy advisory position and leading an interdisciplinary team of Haas and Goldman students on a consulting project,Nidhi developed expertise in Program Related Investments, Mission Related Investments, and Blended Finance. Nidhi brings analytical abilities with the goal of directing capital for community impact to the Haas Sustainable Investment Fund. Nidhi is also driven by the future of South Asia’s investment ecosystem and is motivated to align long-term career goals with this vision.
Neo Zhu
Neo Zhu is a mission-driven entrepreneur and second-year MBA student at Berkeley Haas, with a diverse background spanning product management, marketing, strategy, and impact investment. With nearly a decade of experience in the content industry, Neo began his career as a journalist before becoming an early team member at TikTok. There, he witnessed firsthand the company's growth from a Series C startup to the world's largest unicorn. Prior to his MBA, Neo led TikTok's sustainability strategy. At Haas, Neo has served as a venture partner for the Haas Impact Fund, focusing on early-stage AI and EdTech investments. Currently, he is co-founding an AI-powered EdTech startup aimed at democratizing personalized learning.
Furui Yang
Furui is a second-year Master of Development Practice student at UC Berkeley, with a keen focus on sustainable business and the energy transition sector. Her professional experience spans impactful roles at the Sorenson Impact Institute, Environmental Defense Fund, and China International Capital Corporation, where she honed her skills in financial modeling, impact measurement, and deal evaluation in the sustainable energy sector. Her work on zero-emission freight development supports her ability to drive strategic and impactful investment decisions. Outside of her professional pursuits, Furui is an avid hiker and enjoys exploring the art of mixology.
Ramin Abbasov
Ramin is a second-year full-time MBA candidate at the Haas School of Business, specializing in finance with a focus on impact and sustainable investing. He recently completed a summer internship in private equity, where he focused on secondary transactions within the technology and healthcare sectors. Prior to joining Haas, Ramin accumulated eight years of experience in the banking sector and an additional year in the government sector, with a concentration on senior-level financial risk management.
Juan Camilo De Angulo
Juan Camilo is a second-year full-time MBA student at Haas with extensive experience in investment banking, rating agencies, and impact investing. He has worked with major firms, including Goldman Sachs, Piper Sandler, S&P Ratings, and most recently Moelis & Co. His expertise spans credit risk, asset-backed securities, structured finance, tax-exempt bond underwriting, and M&A. Juan Camilo currently holds leadership roles, including on the SAIF Advisory Board, as VP of Careers at ALMA (Association for the Latinx MBA Advancement), and as VP of Community at the Haas IM Club. He was previously a Haas Impact Fund Student Venture Partner, an MBA intern at Connectivity Capital and has been heavily involved with ALPFA (Association of Latino Professionals For America). Juan Camilo is passionate about ESG investing and sustainable public infrastructure. In his free time, he enjoys playing tennis, surfing, hiking, and cooking.
Karnpot (Gap) Tatvakorn
Gap has vast industry experience working at the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) for 11 years. He led numerous software solution projects that impacted 870 largest listed companies in Thailand. His work streamlined key processes, ranging from IPOs and corporate actions to regulatory compliance. One of his major successful projects is to apply artificial intelligence to automatically extract financial data from spreadsheets, which led to a more efficient disclosure process, a robust data reliability, and a never-before real-time data analysis. As an MBA student at Berkeley Haas, Gap is dedicated to advancing sustainable investing by exploring strategies to incentivize investors and create an investment ecosystem driven by both financial and impact returns.
Chen Chen
Chen Chen is an EWMBA candidate at Berkeley Haas with a strong background in tax analysis and business strategy. With a CPA certification and years of experience at Intuit, Inc., Chen led the development of state tax products, integrating complex tax laws into customer-focused algorithms using machine learning. Chen also served as a Senior Business Analyst at Citigroup, spearheading internal reporting system projects and fostering strategic relationships with cross-functional teams. With a deep passion for sustainability and financial transparency, Chen is now focused on sustainable investment strategies, aiming to leverage expertise in accounting and data-driven insights to drive impactful change in the investment landscape.
