We are pleased to offer the first student-run $2M+ Climate Solutions Fund.
The Climate Solution Fund (CSF) started in the Fall of 2024 with the first cohort of student investment managers. Students enrolled in the fund-as-curriculum course manage a multi-asset class, private investment fund, investing in real-world deals in order to learn how to structure financing to mobilize capital for climate solutions. Each course culminates with a pitch day for students to present their work to a panel of industry judges who award the winning team funding for their investment. Read more about 2024’s inaugural pitch day on the SAIF blog.
The focus of the investments is in the area of finance not traditionally taught as mainstream finance, but where there are dire needs for expertise. These areas include public-private partnerships for federal or state programs, capital stacks for risk buffering and incorporation of advance purchase commitments, middle market expansion in the picks and shovels of the economy, and growth equity for technology solutions applied to production and logistics.
This $2.37M Climate Solutions Fund is possible due to generous gifts from Haas alumni and friends of Haas. Special thanks goes to Allan Holt, MBA ‘76 for his lead gift, and generous founding donations from Larry Johnson BS ’72, Doris and Charlie Michaels BS ’78, Scott Pinkus and Laura D. Tyson.
