Admissions
If your 18th birthday falls within one week of our August London departure date, the you can still be eligible for consideration for admission to the GMP. Should your 18th birthday fall outside this one-week window, unfortunately we could not deem you eligible to participate on the GMP.
The age requirement is set as our program housing in London is not able to accommodate minors due to reasons of liability. We do not have any control of this requirement, and it cannot be modified for students that are not 18 years old within one week of August cutoff date.
General
The GMP is a freshman-admit program with a mandatory study abroad component during the Fall of freshman year, additional project-based travel opportunities and a cohorted class experience. Students in the GMP will be part of a cohort experience focused primarily on business from a global perspective and building foundational knowledge and experience to become a global leader. The GMP is unique in that it encourages students to adopt new ways of thinking about what it means to be a global citizen and leader through study abroad and additional language and cultural fluency requirements.
Graduates of the GMP will receive a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Business Administration with a concentration in Global Management.
You will receive units for any AP exam with a score of 3 or higher. For a list of exams that fulfill course requirements for the GMP are outlined on the Haas website under “Exam Credit.”
The GMP requires that students complete a total of 3 years (6 semesters or equivalent) of a language.
There are a variety of travel abroad opportunities available. Students will have the flexibility to study abroad more than once throughout their time at UC Berkeley. Costs will vary widely based on the duration of travel, location and courses. For more information, students can visit the Berkeley Study Abroad website.
It is common for students to pursue a simultaneous degree or minor. It is advised that interested students familiarize themselves with the requirements for both majors, as well as any minors they hope to obtain, and meet with an advisor to create a 4 year academic plan. For more information regarding simultaneous degrees, please visit our website.
For the 2019-2020 academic year, we had 600 students apply and we offered admission to 47.
In addition to the mandatory study abroad component during freshman year, GMP students will have classes specifically designed for their cohort, internationally-themed experiential learning and applied leadership opportunities, and various optional study abroad opportunities.

Yes. Participation during the Summer and Fall of freshman year is mandatory. GMP partners with UC Berkeley Global Edge to provide a unique study abroad experience during the Summer and Fall of freshman year. For more information regarding Global Edge, please visit their website.
The Global Management Program partners with UC Berkeley Global Edge to send students to London during their Fall semester. Visit the Global Edge website for more information about accommodations. Students will be staying at the Accent London Study Center in the Bloomsbury neighborhood of London.
Once in London, students will be sent an application from Cal Housing to complete by October for Spring semester housing on-campus. On-campus housing applications must be submitted as soon as possible as space is not guaranteed and is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Program activities include a visit to Oxford during orientation week and an overnight group excursion during the mid-semester break. You can also choose to participate in any of the extracurricular activities organized for UC students by the UC Education Abroad Program (additional costs may apply). Many students take advantage of the proximity of other European countries and relatively inexpensive flights to travel on weekends. Due to the academic rigor of the program, we highly recommended that you do not proceed with making travel plans until you have adjusted to your academic schedule and environment abroad. For more information, please visit the Global Edge website.
Fall courses are taught by faculty appointed by UC Berkeley. Fall courses are designed by UC Berkeley Academic departments along the Berkeley model.
GMP students will be taken on company visits as well as participate in hands-on case simulations.
