The Application Process
Round 1 decisions will release by July 31st
Round 2 decisions will release by August 28th
We welcome applications from high school students in the 10th through 12th grades and gap year students. Applicants should demonstrate academic motivation, a genuine interest in business and entrepreneurship, and the ability to work collaboratively in a rigorous virtual learning environment.
If you have attended school outside the state of California for the previous two consecutive years before applying, you are considered an out of state student.
If you do not have proof of California residence status and do not pay California income taxes, you are considered a non-resident.
We accept payment by credit card for domestic applicants and payment by credit card or wire transfer from international applicants. All payments must indicate that payment is for the Berkeley Business Academy for Youth.
The Program
No. Admission to the program is for the full academic year, and students are expected to participate in both the fall and spring semesters. Enrollment represents a commitment to the entire year.
Cohorts cannot be switched between semesters as students work on projects in teams.
No college credit is awarded. Students receive periodic feedback and end of semester grades. Upon successful participation, an official Certificate of Participation from UC Berkeley, along with a personalized evaluation from their Teaching Assistant.
Attending B-BAY can be a valuable addition to your college application. It demonstrates your interest in business and your motivation to look beyond the resources available at your own school. B-BAY provides a rigorous depth of instruction and practical experience that sets B-BAY alumni apart from other candidates.
No. You must attend both semesters and score 90% to be eligible for the certificate of completion.
Yes. Students who do not complete all assigned work will not receive a certificate of completion.
