Applying for Haas GSI and Reader Positions

Every semester, Haas courses that have been allocated GSI (Graduate Student Instructor) and/or Reader funds are listed on the Haas GSI/Reader online application page and the Haas GSI/Reader Faculty Recruitment page.

Summer and Fall positions are announced in March of the hiring year; Spring positions in October.

Haas’ Summer and Fall 24′ GSI and Reader positions will be posted on March 22, 2024 at 4pm.

Interested GSI and Reader candidates who meet the eligibility and training requirements for the positions may submit an online application. Please ensure that all paperwork (CV/Resume/Letter of Recommendation*) is in order before submitting the application form. All uploaded materials should be prepared in a single PDF. Once the application is submitted, it can not be altered or retrieved by the candidate.

Additionally, it is important that candidates only apply ONCE to each position.

Hiring instructors will be able to access application materials and contact candidates directly throughout the interview and selection process. Instructors nominate finalists to the ASE Administrator, who then checks the candidate’s credentials and vets their candidacy for employment.

Please note:

Instructors can not make verbal promises to hire. Offers, if forthcoming, can only be made in writing via an appointment notification letter once a candidate’s eligibility has been verified.

Selected candidates will be contacted directly by the ASE Administrator with a Letter of Appointment and other relevant paperwork. Please read the email in its entirety, along with all attachments, making sure to record the various training dates required for the appointment. Candidates are responsible for making an onboarding appointment as necessary with Berkeley Regional Services (BRS) to submit all required HR paperwork.

When all forms are completed, both the Appointee and the Hiring Instructor receive emailed confirmation that the appointment is complete.

*It is the policy of the Haas School of Business that for Non-UC Berkeley students applying for an ASE position, a letter of recommendation from the home department is required to be considered for employment–please upload the letter with other application materials.
