A student who does not enroll in any courses/units for a semester is considered withdrawn from the program.
A student who is withdrawn is ineligible for:
- Financial Aid
- Career Services, including CMG Managed Recruiting
- Student Services
Any student considering withdrawal must follow the Withdrawal Checklist to ensure the appropriate steps have been taken.
- Talk to your academic advisor to discuss your academic plan. In particular, if your withdrawal is submitted after the UC Berkeley first day of instruction (check the Office of the Registrar site for this date), you will be charged pro-rated fees by UC Berkeley. These can be substantial depending on your enrolled unit load and when you submit your Withdrawal Request. Your advisor can provide helpful guidance on strategies to minimize these fees.
- Complete the Program Office Request to Withdraw form. This form alerts the EWMBA Program Office to your Withdrawal Requests and provides us with the data we need to best advise you on your MBA plan. It does not mean that your withdrawal is complete.
- Complete the CalCentral Withdrawal Request. You can find this form in CalCentral under the “Student Resources” section on the “My Dashboard” tab.
- If your graduation date will change as a result of your withdrawal from the program, submit a Graduation Date Modification.
- Email your advisor about 2 months before the start of the semester in which you plan to return so that they can begin the process of readmitting you to the program.
- Students who matriculate prior to Fall 2014 have a maximum of seven (7) years to complete the degree, starting from the semester the program was entered.
- Students who matriculate Fall 2014 and later have a maximum of five (5) years to complete the degree, starting from the semester the program was entered.
- Program Office and Graduate Division approval is required to re-enroll after any absence of one regular (fall or spring) semester or longer. Students who are ready to re-enroll must submit a written confirmation to their advisor. Any student who was on academic probation at the time of withdrawal may no be granted re-admission to the program.
- Any student who stops attending classes and fails to inform the instructor or the administration of intent to withdraw from the course or the program will automatically receive a grade of “F” in the course(s). A request for re-admission to the program after such a case will be subject to strong scrutiny.
- Any student who is expecting a child while enrolled in the program should contact the academic advisor, who will discuss parental leave options and work with instructors to make arrangements if needed.
