- In Consulting we are going to focus on these core/foundational skills – “business sense”, systems thinking and thinking/presenting out loud. We’ve identified these three skills as key to developing early so you can take full advantage of the resources that are available when you are on campus. Practicing these skills now will hopefully let you focus on other areas of casing development.
- We will introduce and have you practice all three foundational skills over the program. We will scale them in difficulty over the period to continue to push your development forward. There will be ample opportunity to practice these core skills in class and out of class. Remember our goal is to get these core skills down before you get to campus.
- In these workshops, we will also practice many of the intangible skills that are required such as speaking out loud and contributing to the “team”. We will simulate some of the aspects of consulting in the classroom – such as sharing and playing with ideas.

- In the Product Management series we are going to help you understand what are the behavioral traits and mental models that make a great PM. We will focus and practice what its like to embody these traits through understanding …
- What does it mean to think about product – that’s developing your sense of product (no matter what form that product takes – physical, software or service); how to think about deconstructing and constructing great product experiences; and how to measure a product’s success or failure.
- What does it mean to ‘empathize’ with the customer – understanding ‘what is the job to be done’ by the user and how a product fits into that desire.
- What does it mean to solve that problem or fulfill that need.
- We will also explore the product ecosystem and understand how the Product Management role fits in. We will also explore the execution aspects of the role to help you understand the day-to-day of the role.
- If not PM then where else might I fit in? Many times we might find ourselves connected to parts of the product process but the PM role isn’t necessarily right for you. You’ll see where else you might be able to contribute your talents in the ecosystem.
