Degree Conferral FAQ
Students may check the Academic Progress Report in CalCentral to verify they have met all graduation requirements. Review the EWMBA APR Student Guide here. If there are errors or issues, report them here, not to your advisor.
You may also review CalCentral > My Academics to ensure you have reached 42 units and have a minimum 3.00 GPA to graduate.
Please note that any outstanding tuition and fee balance may result in a hold that either prevents your final grades from being posted or a hold on mailing out your diploma.
A student will not be notified if they are all set to graduate. However, the Program Office will also perform Graduation Date audits after Add/Drop for a given semester has ended. Students who do not have the minimum 42 units to graduate will be notified and asked to complete a Graduation Date Modification Form.
The degree conferral process takes about 2-3 months after the end of your graduating semester.
Once conferred, the degree will be automatically mailed, free of charge, to the address supplied by students on CalCentral. If students did not enter a diploma mailing address in CalCentral, the Registrar will mail the diploma to the home address. For more information, please visit the Office of the Registrar’s page about Transcripts & Diplomas.
Students must check the billing summary and address any remaining balance. Any unpaid fees will impact the degree conferral.
Please see the table below for key dates for degree conferral.
The Capstone requirement (EW209 Strategic Leadership) will be marked as complete in a student’s final semester. This will generally be mid-semester, after Add/Drop has concluded and schedules are settled.
Semester | Transcript States Degree Conferred | Diploma Available |
Fall (December) | February/March | Late April |
Spring (May) | June/July | Late September |
Summer (August) | September | Late December |
Please see these instructions on how to check and update this address prior to graduation in CalCentral before degrees are conferred (see table above).
If your diploma address changes after degrees have been conferred, but before diplomas are mailed out, update your Diploma address in CalCentral Alumni Portal. View a Job Aid for the Alumni Portal here.
Diplomas are mailed out approximately 4 months after degree conferral by the Office of the Registrar to the diploma address listed in CalCentral>. For more information, please visit the Office of the Registrar’s page about Transcripts & Diplomas.
The name on your diploma will appear as it was recorded from your application for admission to UC Berkeley. You may change your name of record by providing documentation of a legal name change. For more information, please visit the Office of the Registrar’s page about Transcripts & Diplomas.
Please see the Office of the Registrar FAQ here
Note: While at UC Berkeley you may choose to use a preferred name. While the preferred name will appear on certain records such as your Cal 1 Card, course rosters, and Residence Hall records, the preferred name will not appear on your diploma. For more information, see “Your Name on Records & Rosters.”

Resources after Graduation
Stay connected after you graduation! Check out the Alumni Benefits Handbook to learn about your benefits.
Graduates may continue to have access to all bConnected applications provided they claim their @berkeley.edu account via the @cal Alumni Network. Alumni will also be required to review and accept terms of service annually.
Review the Haas Technology Services guide “Before Leaving Haas” for information regarding Haas Enterprise accounts such as Slack and Zoom.
Please note,UC Berkeley is changing its alumni email services policies. To find more information and stay up-to-date on these changes, follow this link to the Haas Alumni Relations Email Services page.
bCourses access is connected with the CalNet ID, which is active until 9 months upon graduation. However, some professors have set their courses to expire after a certain amount of time, eg. at the end of the semester. Therefore, students should download the materials they wish to refer to now.
Students’ CalNet ID is in active status for 274 days immediately following your graduation date. After that, it will transition into alumni status and access to certain systems will be limited or removed (e.g. bCourses).
Graduates will be able to access the Alumni version of CalCentral once access has been converted from current to alumnus (generally once the degree has been conferred). View a Job Aid of what is available here.
Alumni will have access to alumni career resources, including CMG Bears, workshops and events, and advising.
Graduates should update their job information and report offers in BEARS (the Berkeley Employment & Reporting System). Go to CMG Bears (on the upper left corner of the Dashboard) and input promotions and/or job changes made since entering the program. Employment/offer data is strictly confidential and only published in aggregate.
CalNet ID access to computer terminals will expire 3 months after graduation.
Request an official or unofficial transcript in CalCentral > Academics > Request Transcripts, or directly from TranscriptsPlus.
Please be sure to return all books checked out from the library.
Alumni can access some, but not all, business databases from public computers at UCB campus libraries which will re-open to the public when campus public health guidelines allow. These are not available remotely due to licensing agreements with database publishers.
California residents can get library cards to browse and borrow from the UCB library’s extensive physical book collection. Alumni library cards are one of the many perks of Cal Alumni Association (not the same as the Haas Alumni!) memberships. Note: Alumni Library cards do not permit remote access to databases.
Many public libraries have information resources for businesses, and databases can be accessed from your home. San Francisco Public Library for example has an excellent selection for business. Be sure to sign up for library cards at your public libraries.
If you have any questions, please contact Hilary Schiraldi, Long Business Librarian: [email protected], 510-643-6471.
Alumni are not able to reserve spaces in Haas due to high demand for spaces, including Study Rooms, event spaces, and classrooms, by current students, departments, and faculty.
If alumni wish to visit campus to work remotely, there are a number of common spaces in Chou Hall, the Library, and the Upper Bank of America Forum to utilize. Please take into consideration that these spaces are not private.
Starting May 2020, EW graduates will have access to Haas Enterprise Slack for at least five years. Alumni may connect with other MBAs via LinkedIn or the @cal Alumni Directory.
Student accounts remain active unless the user specifically requests to have it deleted. Graduates will be able to login locally to study.net after graduation using their registered email account. Accounts use the @berkeley.edu email address. Content that is visible within study.net will be removed about 90 days after course end date, e.g. course ends in May and materials removed in August. It is recommended to download all study.net materials to refer to in the future.
UC Berkeley-licensed Zoom accounts are synchronous with active CalNet identities and access to it will expire once the CalNet account becomes inactive or unaffiliated.
