Middle School Entrepreneurship
The admissions team looks for academically motivated, mature students who are interested in attending B-BAY because they want to develop their knowledge of business or have a passion for business. The application and accompanying materials should convey and communicate the student’s level of maturity and motivation.
The Middle School Entrepreneurship Summer Program is a commuting only program. Housing and meals are not provided.
2025 Key Dates
- Application Portal Opens – January 17, 2025: Applicants should review the requirements below and begin preparing their applications.
- Application Portal Closes – March 1, 2025 at 8:59 PM PST: All applications and supporting materials must be submitted before the deadline.
Rolling Admission
We encourage applicants to apply prior to the application deadline as applications are reviewed and accepted on a rolling basis until the registration number is met.
Application Requirements
Applicants will submit materials through our secure Application System. The Application system will open on January 17, 2025.
Applicants are encouraged to begin preparing their applications and apply early.
You will write three short essays of 100-150 words each. Please review the Berkeley Haas Defining Leadership Principles to guide you as you write.
English Proficiency Section: If English is not your first language, include a short paragraph describing your English educational background and experience. This section will not count toward your word limit.
Essay Prompts:
Question 1: One of the Berkeley Haas Defining Leadership Principles is “Question the Status Quo.” Describe a situation where you have questioned the status quo. Why do you think it’s important to do so?
Question 2: Tell us about yourself! What are your favorite hobbies, interests, or subjects in school and what do you enjoy about them?
Question 3: How would participating in the Berkeley Business Academy for Youth help you as you pursue your education?
- Essays must be written by the applicant.
- Please respond to each question. Each response should be 100-150 words. Please include the word count below each essay.
- Essay should be written in 12-point font, single spaced.
- Include an essay header in the upper right corner that includes Last Name, First Name.
- Essay should be written in English.
Please have one teacher complete a Recommendation Form. The recommendation should be submitted by an academic teacher (English, Math, Science, Social Studies, Language, other STEM classes, etc).
B-BAY will not accept forms submitted by the student.
Recommenders should email the form to [email protected] with the following subject line “MSEN_Applicant Last Name_ Applicant First Name_ Recommendation_ 2025”.

A non-refundable $80 application fee must accompany the completed application. Applications will not be reviewed if fees are not included.
After Applying
Once B-BAY receives your complete application (your application form, essay, all supplemental materials, and the application fee) we will begin the review process.
An admissions decision will be made and e-mailed to you within two weeks of submitting your complete application.
Students admitted into the Berkeley Business Academy for Youth have 10 days (weekends included) from your acceptance date to enroll online and pay the program fees. You are not enrolled until full payment is received.
