Congratulations for nearly completing your core portion of the program! As you know, the final core requirement is the Mid Program Academic Retreat (MPAR) in Napa.
Preference Survey
As a reminder, please fill out the MPAR Preference Survey no later than Monday, October 30 at 11:59PM PT (CalNet authentication required).
Hotel Roommate Preference
Please confirm with your preferred roommate that you have both listed each other on your Survey forms. If both roommates do NOT request each other, your roommate will be randomized. After the deadline (Monday October 30 at 11:59PM PST), the Program Office will no longer take requests for your preferred roommate.
Jacket Default Sizing
Please note that if you do not make a jacket size choice by the deadline, you will be given a size Medium jacket. This size has been chosen due to the fact that the jackets will run slightly larger. Since the Program Office will be making exact orders for jacket sizes, we will not be taking requests to swap sizes after the survey is closed or at the event.

We hope you are gearing up for a nice winter break! We look forward to kickstarting the Spring 2024 semester with you at MPAR from January 12-14, 2024 at the Meritage Resort and Spa in Napa.
Please review the following details below:
1. Weekend Schedule
Review the FAQ Page for logistics here (subject to change).
This year we are going digital! We will utilize bCourses to share information and updates about the weekend including the schedule, logistics, faculty and speaker details, and any relevant announcements.
Download the “Canvas Student” app on your phone using these steps:
1. Download the app on your smartphone (Apple App Store, Google Play)
2. Click “Find my school”
3. Search for “UC Berkeley”
4. Login with your CalNet ID and Passphrase
5. Find the course “EWMBA 296-4: MPAR”
6. Under Settings, enable push notifications to ensure you don’t miss any announcements.
Please note that the schedule is tentative and may adjust slightly before the weekend, but please plan on arriving at the Meritage no later than 10:00 AM(PT) so our first session can start on time. Transportation to the hotel is not provided. We encourage you to carpool with your classmates.
2. Academic Requirements
MPAR is a requirement for graduation. Attendance at ALL sessions is mandatory from Friday through Sunday to receive a passing grade. Students arriving late or leaving early will not pass. Other grading criteria for your work at MPAR are posted on the bCourses site.
3. Event Liability Waiver
As the event is off-site, all students are required to complete the MPAR 2024 Event Liability Waiver prior to check-in. Please digitally sign by Thursday, January 11, 2024 at 5:00 PM (PT).
4. Hotel Accommodations
Please see the “[EWMBA] MPAR 2024 – Hotel Confirmation” email which will be sent from the Program Office on Friday December 8, 2023 for details about your accommodations.
Self parking is free of charge. Most rooms are within a few minutes walking distance. Per the Meritage Resort FAQ, there are six ChargePoint charging stations for EVs. Please inquire with the hotel valet for more information and parking spot location.
5. Dress Code
Dress code for the academic portion of the MPAR weekend is casual and comfortable. See below for more details on the suggested dress code for the MPAR dinner and party on Saturday, January 13, 2024.
In preparation for rain or cold weather, please check the weather in Napa as the date approaches. While most of the sessions will be held indoors, you may be outdoors occasionally as you walk through the property. Please be prepared with comfortable layers and umbrellas.
6. Saturday Night Roaring 20’s Party
This year, the theme for the Saturday party is Roaring 20’s!
7. Guests & Significant Others
Unfortunately, we cannot allow guests, significant others, children, etc. during this weekend, as it is an academic course and space and resources are limited.

We hope you enjoyed your holiday break and we look forward to starting the Spring 2024 semester at MPAR on January 12-14, 2024 at the Meritage Resort and Spa in Napa.
Please review the following details below:
1. Weekend Schedule
Click on the link to review the MPAR 2024 Weekend Schedule (subject to change). Arrive at the resort no later than 10:30 AM PT and have your Cal ID ready for check-in with the Program Office so our first session can start on time.
Transportation to the hotel is not provided but we encourage you to connect with your classmates if you need a ride

The current weather forecast predicts colder weather and occasional rain during the weekend in Napa. While most of the sessions will be held indoors, you may need to occasionally be outdoors as you walk through the property. Please be prepared with comfortable layers and umbrellas.
3. Hotel Accommodations
Hotel Check-in: Rooms will NOT be ready for check-in immediately upon arrival. Please keep your luggage stowed in your vehicle when you arrive at the resort. Park in the main lots adjacent to the main entrance of the resort.
Rooms will be made available for check-in Friday evening as part of the schedule. Valid government issued ID (e.g. driver’s license) will be required by the hotel for check-in.
Self parking is free of charge at the resort for this weekend. Most rooms are within a few minutes walking distance. Per the Meritage Resort FAQ, there are six ChargePoint charging stations for EVs. If you have additional questions regarding parking, please inquire with the hotel.
4. Event Liability Waiver
As the event is off-site, all students are required to complete the MPAR 2024 Event Liability Waiver prior to check-in since the class takes place off-campus. Please digitally sign by no later than Thursday Jan 11 at 5:00 PM PT.
5. Academic Requirements
MPAR is a core course requirement for graduation and attendance at ALL sessions from Friday Jan 12 through Sunday Jan 14, and is mandatory to receive a passing letter grade. Grading criteria for your academic work at MPAR is posted on bCourses. If you have questions about attendance or grading, please contact your academic advisor. To account for attendance and participation, please bring your Cal1 Card.
