Complete 2021 Online Application

Application Requirements:

  • Essay
    *Write an essay in English* (600 – 750 words, 1.5-spaced, 12-point font and insert header including Last Name, First Name, and Word Count in the upper right corner) that responds to all of the following:

    *The four Defining Principles of BerkeleyHaas are: Question the Status Quo, Students Always, Beyond Yourself, and Confidence without Attitude. Which one of these principles speaks most to you? Explain why.
     

    *Consider a team situation where you questioned or challenged a belief or an idea. What influenced your views, and what was the outcome? 

    *There is a distinct difference between invention and innovation. Using your experience in current times, identify an opportunity in your community to apply innovation towards a positive social change. *Why do you want to attend the Berkeley Business Academy for Youth high-school entrepreneurship session? What will you bring to the program? What do you hope to gain by participating?* If English is not your native language, please write one paragraph describing your English educational background and experience.

  • Two teacher recommendations
    • Please have two teachers complete the application form. Teacher’s must email the form to bbay@berkeley.edu directly. We will not accept forms submitted by the student.  Download form here 
  • Transcript
    • Students must upload a transcript including grades from the past 2 years (can be an unofficial). Transcript must display students name.

Application Fees

A non-refundable $75 application fee must accompany the completed application. Applications submitted without payment will not be reviewed.

Application Deadline: April 1, 2021 at 5pm PST

We encourage you to apply prior to the application deadline as applications are reviewed accepted on a rolling basis.

Admission Requirements

We look for academically motivated, mature students who are interested in attending a rigorous college prep summer business academy. B-BAY is for youth who want to develop their knowledge of business or have a passion for business. The application and accompanying materials should convey  your level of maturity and motivation.

Interviews

You may be asked to do a virtual interview with a member of the Admissions Committee to determine admission to the program.

When we receive your complete application (your application form, essay, all supplemental materials, and the application fee). An admissions decision will be made and e-mailed to you within two weeks.

Enrolling: Students admitted into the Berkeley Business Academy for Youth have 10 days (weekends included) from your acceptance date to enroll online and pay the program fees. You are not enrolled until full payment is received.

Notice of Availability

In compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, the University of California, Berkeley publishes an Annual Security and Fire Safety Report. This report includes current security policies plus crime and fire statistics for the previous three calendar years. The body of the report also contains contact information for various campus and community resources related to crime prevention and survivor assistance. A digital copy of the report can be accessed via the link below, or paper copies are available free of charge at 1 Sproul Hall.
