Congratulations on your new position! We’re excited that you’re joining Berkeley Haas and will be bringing your talent, skills and energy to the important work we do here.
Your first few months at Haas are naturally a time of learning and understanding your job, your unit, and how the University works. It’s also a time to explore and learn about all the benefits and rewards available to you because of your affiliation with this world-class university. Some resources to support you during this time include:
- A customized version of this checklist with a list of steps and resources to welcome and orient you to Haas and to the Berkeley campus. Please check with your supervisor if you have not already reviewed this list with them.
- Check your calendars for two orientation events: the Welcome to Haas Orientation (soon after you start) and the Lunch and Learn (within three-four months of your start).
- In addition, another resource to help you to get connected is the #haas-connections! channel in the “Donut” app in Slack. Joining this will pair you up for regular introductions to your participating colleagues. You don’t need to do much else other than accept a time to meet, but here are a few tips:
- Donut will message you via Slack when you have new introduction. If you don’t use Slack very often, you can setup email notifications so you never miss a match.
- Add your “Favorite Things” to get the conversation started. Donut will send you a message about this automatically.
- Make meetings even easier to schedule by integrating your Google Calendar. Donut will prompt you for this, but if you need help, the steps are here.
- Donut will ask you to “Say Something Nice” after your first meeting, Please do!
